Billy Blue College of Design

 

The name Billy Blue is related to the early history of our city and the part of Sydney in which our schools are located. Billy arrived in Sydney in 1801. He became Australia’s first tour operator when he began a rowing boat service across Sydney Harbour. He was allotted 80 acres of land at what is now called Blue’s point where Billy Blue Schools and Billy Blue Creative, carry on the name and the success today.

Billy Blue is highly regarded by the visual communications industry, both in Australia and overseas. This is because of the quality of students, the programmes and most importantly lecturers.

DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS

This course enables students to complete a short-course in the basics of Communication Design, or start on the Communication Design pathway at an earlier entry point, without a specific background in art or design.

 ADVANCE DIPLOMA IN COMMUNICATION DESIGN / MULTIMEDIA DESIGN  - 2 YEARS
The Advanced Diploma builds on the technical skills of the Certificate, and teaches them at a
higher conceptual and technical level. There are four major projects – in Design, Publishing, Packaging & Advertising - included in this year of study. Assessment of these projects is by external Industry experts.

 


ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN COMMUNICATION DESIGN / MULTIMEDIA DESIGN  - 2 YEARS
The Associate Degree in Communication/Multimedia Design is similar to the Advanced Diploma of Communication/Multimedia Design in that it also focuses on the traditional areas of visual communication. However, it does so from a different perspective. The main difference between this course and the Advanced Diploma is that you'll be approaching your studies in a broader, more analytical way.
BACHELOR OF DESIGN (COMMUNICATION DESIGN) OR


 

BACHELOR OF DESIGN (MULTIMEDIA DESIGN) – YEAR 3
Upon completion of the Advanced Diploma/Associate Degree(with a GPA of 70% or higher) students may
continue into the Swinburne University Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) or Bachelor of Design (Multimedia Design) course (depending on which stream followed in Years 1 & 2), delivered by Billy Blue College of Design.

This degree is awarded by Swinburne University’s National Institute of Design and is widelyrecognised by the Visual Communications industry, nationally and internationally, as being of the highest standard. The reputation of the program, and the knowledge and experience gained throughout the course, places students among the leading graduates in Australia and overseas.
